So, how'd I do on my goals this week?
Well, technically I'm writing this Friday night so I have two more days to go. But I'll be out of town for work so I thought I'd recap now. Unless something miraculous happens while I'm at the Wild and Scenic Film Festival or the Fancy Food Show, this is about as close to meeting my goals as I'm going to get.
1. Write every day: I got up early enough to write twice this week. I wasn't really feeling it, and was finding myself getting disappointed in what I'd written after the 10 minutes was up. Luckily my book came in the mail on Thursday! I have never in my life been so excited to receive a book in the mail. It's coming with me on my travels this weekend just so I can peek at what's in store for me for future writing exercises.
2. Drink 60 oz. of water every day: Fail and fail every day but Thursday. No joke, I had a pint glass on my desk, calculated how many pints would equal 60 ounces, divided that total by how many hours I would be at work, and set my Outlook reminder to ding every time I was supposed to have finished a pint. I felt awesome and was alert enough by the end of the day to want to work out, so it totally worked. Oddly, I didn't have to rush to the bathroom at all during the day, so something leads me to believe I'm a little underhydrated (yes I know that's not a word).
3. Exercise 3 times a week: Unless I do some windsprints at the film festival on Saturday or my boss really cashes in on her threat to ride bikes from our hotel to the Moscone Center for the Fancy Food Show, I succeeded in one day of exercise to the tune of "New York City Ballet Workout 2" video (much better than vol. 1, if you ask me).
4. Cook something new once a week: Done and done. Soft herb rolls from the most recent Sunset Holiday recipe book. They were delish and paired swimmingly with John's potato leek soup. There's a good story behind them, but I'll save that for another post.
5. Read one book a month: Still pluggin' away at Julie and Julia, though am continually shocked at the 'cutesing-down' that occurred with the Julie character for the movie. Not to say I don't relate to her, it's just almost an entirely different story. Also sometimes makes me think all I need is a little more purpose and I too can become a published writer just like her (sans infidelity)!
6. Finish the Business Plan: John and I had a great pub meetup the other night to chart out the future, which looks like it may be falling into our laps whether we're ready or not!
7. Learn to bake bread: Cookbook is here! Just gotta get the particulars down and probably a bit more baking accoutrements and I'm set!
Anyone else dutifully keeping track of their goals or am I the only A.R. one in the group?
